In 1967 the Australian Alliance of Bible Believing Christian Churches was formed and following a visit to the U.S.A. , in 1968, Rev. John was approached to become the spokesman in Australia for the International Council of Christian Churches (ICCC) which was established in 1948 in opposition to the World Council of Churches (WCC). 

In 1968 `The Reformation Book Centre` was established in Adelaide to cater for the many folk who were seeking sound biblical books recommended at the regular Saturday meetings Rev. John was conducting (2 Tim. 2:15).

In 1970 the Faith & Freedom writings became formalised and to visually align them with the Christian Beacon, published in the U.S.A. Rev. John and his wife Christine registered the Australian Beacon and were themselves registered as the sole proprietors.

The bookshop and the Australian Beacon were independent agencies.

In 1980 a Board was formed to oversee the business of the bookshop and the Australian Beacon.

In 2002 after an impasse arose within the church which Rev. John had faithfully founded under God’s guidance had faithfully ministered to, both the Australian Beacon and the bookshop were handed over to the church.

Rev. John was still burdened by the need to continue the work the Lord had given him to do and so with a gracious loan given and received, he began a new work amalgamating and registering the new bookshop and new Magazine under the title `Faith & Freedom Ministries Inc.` managed as a non-profit organisation run by a Board with members from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

When Rev. John`s health began to fail in 2008 it was deemed appropriate for the Faith & Freedom Ministries to de-register and conclude.

The W.A. member of the Board at that time, Rev. Errol D. Stone, with the support of Faith Presbyterian Church-Perth, was willing to accept the assets to be used for non-profit purposes (as required by the constitution) and subsequently de-registration of the Adelaide entity took place.

The assets were then moved to Perth where the new Faith & Freedom Ministries Inc. consisting of a new bookshop and a new magazine edited and compiled by Rev. Stone was commenced in 2009.

By the Grace of God, the Faith and Freedom Bookshop opened in Perth on June 16^th 2009, the stock, equipment and furnishings from the bookshop previously operated from the home of Rev. John MacKenzie and his wife Christine having been given to Rev. Errol Stone, a member of the Board which had previously had oversight of the Adelaide based bookshop, to be used for non-profit purposes and in furthering the warnings of apostasy and church history.  Matt 24: 3b-5.

With the support of Faith Presbyterian Church-Perth, a steering Committee was formed to guide the removal of all assets to Perth and the many tasks required to establish a premises, get local government permission and register the new venture for incorporation were begun.

 A team consisting of Rev. Stone and four others from the steering Committee travelled to Adelaide to conduct a stock-take, and to pack and forward the bookshop contents to Perth .

Rev. Stone and the four team members met at Adelaide airport on the evening of Sunday November 16^th 2008 having travelled from Perth and Melbourne , and then began an intense three days and nights of counting; recording and packaging. More than 9,000 items were loaded for shipping by mid-day on Thursday 20^th and the team flew back to Perth that night to await the arrival of the shipment.

By God`s Grace the bookshop has grown steadily over the ensuing years and book orders come through consistently, many being placed by readers of the Faith & Freedom Magazine which always contains a list of new stocks including the old faithful reformed authors.  Unfortunately many are now out of print and it is difficult to replace them.

The bookstore contains the largest selection of reformed and puritan books in Perth and possibly in Australia .  Rev. Stone personally selects all books bought for stock as it is important to uphold the standard of biblical truth which was also the basis of the Adelaide bookstore.

New titles are inserted in the Faith & Freedom Magazine and are also updated on the website.
